Rosaries

Basic Instructions for Creating a Rosary

Throughout history, rosaries have been created in various ways. The most popular is the traditional link-wire rosary. Other styles include wire-wrapped, cage wire-wrapped, cord, and knotted. We create strung rosaries and all instructions will be for the construction of a strung rosary.

Although there are many different types of rosaries, the most well-known is the Marian Five Decade Rosary. Others include; the Franciscan Rosary, Carmelite Six Decade Rosary, Servite Rosary, Chaplets, Single Decade Rosaries, and more.
Most of the patterns we offer will be for a traditional Five Decade Marian Rosary. This rosary is a meditation on the life of Christ. Prayers include specific mysteries for each decade. This page concentrates on creating your rosary. We will focus on the mysteries and meditations in a separate booklet.

The Five Decade Rosary

The traditional Five Decade Rosary consists of fifty-nine beads; Fifty-three Ave, or Hail Mary beads and six Pater Nostra or Our Father Beads, a center, and a crucifix. Because our rosaries are strung, you will also need approximately eighty small beads to space and accent the fifty-nine. Specific amounts and bead sizes vary and will be included with each pattern.
